NYRR’s Run for the Future program continues to reach new heights. Created in 2011 to introduce running and its benefits to rising high school senior girls, the intimate summer program has spawned friendships, fostered a love of movement, and awarded more than $150,000 in college scholarships. In 2015, we expanded to a second location in Brooklyn, doubled the class size, and increased the scholarships to $1,500 per participant. Applications for the 2016 class will open soon.
“My summer has been amazing because of Run for the Future. I love how supportive all the girls I train with are and how they push my pace in every run. I’ve become so much more confident and willing to challenge myself.” --Kimberly D.
One thousand children and youth from across the city, including those from NYRR’s Mighty Milers and Young Runners programs, are taking to the streets on March 20 to run the NYRR Times Square Kids' Run at the United Airlines NYC Half. Now in its second year, this free 1500-meter race is giving kids ages 7 to 18 the experience of a lifetime, running amid the marquee lights of Broadway.
